Riverside Equestrian Centre is owned and run by Michaela Preston BHSAI Int and Franklin Method Equestrian , established 2001, our priority is for both your peace of mind, and your horse's happiness.
Riverside Equestrian Centre is a multi-purpose riding facility where fun and learning come together, with a 58m x 28m indoor arena with mirrors, a floodlit 61m x 21m outdoor arena and Equicizer mechanical horse.

Services We Offer
Training with Michaela Preston
Michaela Preston BHSAI INT SM provides flatwork, pole work and jumping lessons to all ages and abilities as well as BHS training. Michaela is also a Level 3 Work Based Diploma (NVQ) assessor and is an End Point Assessor for 1st4Sport. Michaela has also been awarded a Level 5 Certificate in Equine Biomechanics by The Open College of Equine Studies.

Bring your horse to Riverside or Michaela can travel to you.
Competitions
We have been successfully running Unafilliated and Stressless Dressage competitions for a while now which are popular due to our laid back, intimate approach to competing. We will now be hosting Show Jumping competitions which we are really looking forward to. Please keep an eye out on the forthcoming events on this page or like us on Facebook to get updates as and when they happen.
Breaking and Schooling
Do you have a young or naughty horse and would like a little help? We can offer help and advice to help you achieve your goal.
Arena Hire
We boast a floodlit outdoor 61m x 21m arena. The arena is topped with Boyntons Fibre Mix surface, which rides perfectly.

Why not beat the weather and come and hire our 60m x 28m mirrored indoor arena with Sportsfibre surface.
​
We have a full set of jumps and dressage boards available to be set up in either arena. Both arenas have state of the art speaker systems perfect for those wanting to practice their Dressage to music tests.
Dressage Training
Riverside Equestrian Centre hold Dressage Training Days with world class Dressage riders and trainers such as Spencer Wilton, Gill Liggins, Hannah Moody, our very own Michaela Preston and more recently...Claire Marie Senior. Dates will be posted below and on Facebook. If you wish to be notified of future clinics, please complete the subscription form at the foot of this page or like our Facebook page.
Franklin Method Equestrian Trainer
Michaela is now a certified Franklin Method Equestrian trainer (mounted or dismounted), she is now taking bookings for individual sessions, weekly classes and clinics and uses Franklin Method Balls and Bands in her teaching.

CLOSING THE RIDING SCHOOL
December 28th, 2025
It is with deep regret that we must announce that from the 28th of December, we will be closing the riding school here at Riverside Equestrian Centre. There are many reasons for making this decision, but ultimately, we will be focusing on competitions, clinics and arena hire. I will be concentrating on freelance coaching both here at Riverside and at clients’ own yards, plus, the Franklin Equestrian Method which will keep ‘Babe’ the mechanical horse, busy.

We would have been celebrating 25 years of the riding school in February, which has only been possible with the amazing clients we have had come through the doors during that time. We haven’t taken this decision lightly, but it is something we feel we must do. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and hope you can find a suitable riding school to carry on your journey.
​
We owe a lot of our success to our two amazing instructors, Amanda and Lauren. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without them. They have been with us for years and we are incredibly sad to see them go as we regard them as friends rather than employees. We are sure they will have great success in whatever path they choose; any new employer will be very lucky to have them. I’m sure you will join us in wishing them all the best for the future.

Finally…. Our truly amazing horses and ponies. Words can’t describe how much we appreciate them. They have never let us down and have worked tirelessly during there time with us. We owe them everything, so we will be offering them all a home, living the rest of their time out grazing to their hearts content. They have been the force behind our success, we know some of you have grown to love them too, so please be rest assured, they will be well looked after.
